FEDERAL PUBLIC HOUSING
The Newburyport Housing Authority (NHA) owns and manages 50 units of Federal Public Housing located at Horton Terrace. The complex was built in 1961 and operates under the Rules and Regulations established by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The one bedroom garden style apartments feature heat and hot water, parking, a community building for tenant social events and a coin-op laundry room. Resident’s are also responsible for payment of electricity in their unit. Rent is based on 30% of the resident’s monthly adjusted income.
Eligibility is based on age and/or disability requirements, credit history, criminal records, and a favorable past housing history. Continued Occupancy is determined yearly by the NHA in accordance with HUD regulations, lease provisions and NHA policies.
